Rosy, a public relation officer of renowned private school, came with her 10 years’ daughter to our clinic who was suffering from cough, fever, throat pain. After detailed history taking she revealed that she was consulting pediatricians for the throat infection and was receiving antipyretics, antibiotics, as a result of it she was getting temporary relief but at the same time suffering from gastritis and  losing her appetite. She was refusing to eat and becoming weak. Every 2 to 3 weeks she was suffering from similar events again and again. Because of these repeated episodes she became very irregular in school which affected her scholastic performance.

She was frustrated with her daughter’s condition. Her colleague advised her to take Ayurvedic opinion for this.

Many mothers of school going children have similar experiences. Children are more prone for respiratory infectious diseases as they have less immunity. Many times they suffer from tonsillitis. Tonsillitis is nothing but swelling of lymph glands present in the throat after viral or bacterial infection. Its symptoms are throat pain, fever and cough. Repeated occurrence of tonsillitis doctors often advice removal of tonsils (tonsillectomy).

If it is timely treated with Ayurvedic medicines we can prevent repeated infections and also can avoid surgical removal of tonsils by improving immunity which resists infection and severity of disease.

I examined her daughter and prescribed few medicines with immunoboosters and told her to take it for at least 3 months. I also explained her few home remedies and called her for regular follow up at every 2 weeks. Her frequency and severity of infection reduced as days passed. Her appetite improved and started eating adequately and gained weight.

After 3 months when she came for followup, her daughter had not missed her school and showing improvement in academics. I changed her medicines and prescribed few immune boosters and told her to continue it for another 3 to 4 months.

Rosy thanked Ayurveda because of which today she is a happy mom.
