Flatulence or bloating is a natural process which is quite capable of creating an awkward situation. While farting out loud causes a huge embarrassment, the silent killers are great disappointments. Though the occasional passing of gas is considered healthy the problem begins when the gases get stinky or they accompany you all the time.
As farting in itself is not a disease there is no absolute cure to block these gases. However, there are some very efficient age-old Ayurvedic techniques that save you big time from going wrong with your tummy.
Causes of flatulence
There are a number of reasons that can cause these gaseous releases and the causes of flatulence differ from person to person. It depends largely on the diet- not only what you eat but also how you eat, your overall health, stress level, sleep regime, physical activity and any other disease. Improper bowel functioning or constipation can also lead to bloating and gas formation in your belly.

Focus on eating
As they say, eat like you are hiding a secret. Chose a soothing, comfortable ambiance for your meals and go for tiny bites, swallow each bite properly before gulping them down your throat. Avoid having water half an hour before and after the meal and prefer warm water over cold water as it keeps your digestive fire intact. Adding more fibers to your diet is also helpful as they are great for digestion.
Keep natural digestives handy
Ayurveda offers some effective natural remedies using common kitchen herbs to treat flatulence. Ajamoda is excellent for flatulence. A powerful carminative, the oil extracted from the seeds of celery helps in reducing abdominal pain and cramps.
Some other efficient herbs like Cinnamon, cardamom, Ajwain, Coriander, Turmeric, Kala jeera, Cloves, Fennel, fenugreek are great remedies for gas formation. They help in eliminating the offensive odour from flatus and also in aiding proper digestion thus leaving very less room for gases to form.
Ginger to the rescue
Ginger is the mother of all treatments. This tiny rhizome works wonder for your digestive system right from stimulating digestive juice to aiding your gut and relaxing muscles to relieve the gas trapped in the digestive system. Ginger also helps in relieving bloating and intestinal cramps.
Physical Activity
Do some mild physical activity as moving your body and warming it up helps in releasing the trapped gases thus providing relief to your gastric issues and heartburning sensations.
